Pikeville Tobacco Barn
After taking a photo of this Eastern North Carolina tobacco barn, a few miles away from my home, I painted an 8" x 10" inch oil painting of the barn. The tall pine trees are characteristic of this area of North Carolina, as well as this type of barn. Although tobacco is still planted and harvested in this region, there is not as much as there used to be. Many of the old tobacco barns have been torn down, but some, like the one I painted, still stand today. I love the rust and other colors in the metal and wood. They create rich contrasts.
